Named after the lowest layer of the earth’s atmosphere, Fender’s Limited Edition Troposphere Stratocaster features unique underwound pickups that result in sweet, delicate, more carefully crafted tones. As a true instrument of innovation from Fender’s Custom Shop, these pickups are set with ‘50s-style formvar wire on the bridge, 60’s style enamel wire on the neck and a reverse-wound middle pickup. These pickups include a 5-way toggle switch and modified vintage #2 wiring. With less natural gain the “Tropocaster” is a perfect guitar for those who like to maintain sonic fidelity when playing with overdrive and distortion, which is great for getting those clean but crunchy bluesy tones.
