This calibrated set is better matched in terms of output from pickup to pickup. With the bridge humbucker being the BurstBucker 3, this guitar can run hot! However, it tapers down beautifully, and sweetens up, and warms up better than other hot humbuckers from Gibson like the 500, 498, or 496 or 490. The Burstbucker 2 in the neck position is Fat for days! Singing leads are no problem, neither is incredible sustain. Each pickup has its own Volume Controls and then there is a single, master tone control.
